<p>A fixturing device (10), usable with various fixturing components as a universal modular fixturing system, has a slot (26) and a shaft (30) that intersect and have a common plane of symmetry, the fixturing device (10) having a plurality of transverse bores (38) intersecting the slot (26) and the shaft (30). The fixturing device (10) is used according to one or more of three clamping techniques: back-clamping, relocatable clamping, and lever-arm clamping. Also described is a universal sleeve-clamp (310) for using interchangeable jaw pieces (316) to clamp a workpiece. The sleeve-clamp (310) has a sleeve (312) with a plurality of radially moveable elements (314). Features are provided for locating and attaching the jaw pieces (316) to the radially moveable elements (314) so that, when a clamping taper (318) is made to bear against the radially moveable elements (314), the elements (314) and the interchangeable jaw pieces (316) are moved radially to clamp the workpiece.</p> |
