PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the recovering efficiency of catalysts by oxidizing pseudocumene in a liquid phase with air to be liquefied in a specific procedure, passing the liquefied oxidation reaction product through ion exchange resins to regenerate the ion exchange resins on which cobalt, manganese, and bromide ions have been adsorbed, and isolating the catalysts from an effluent. SOLUTION: Pseudocumene is oxidized with air in the presence of cobalt, manganese, and bromine catalysts in acetic acid solvent, and water is added to the resultant oxidation reaction product. At this time, the water is added in a volume ratio of water to the reaction liquid of 0:1 to 11:1. The mixture is heated to a temperature of 25 to 140 deg.C to produce an oxidation reaction product in a liquid state. Next, the liquefied oxidation reaction product is passed through ion exchange resins to adsorb cobalt, manganese, and bromide ions. The ion exchange resins on which cobalt, manganese, and bromide ions have been adsorbed is regenerated. The catalysts are isolated from the regenerated effluent to be recovered. Therefore, the recovering rate of cobalt and manganese is excellent in comparison with a conventional method where the catalysts are recovered from a distillation residual liquid.
|
