PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong service life of a bumper by constituting a shock-absorbing assembly in such a way that a metal-to-metal jounce stop structure is provided and compression of the elastomeric jounce bumper of a piston rod of a shock absorber is limited to a predetermined axial distance when there is maximum jounce travel. SOLUTION: This shock-absorbing assembly 10 of a front suspension has a hydraulic shock absorber 11 having a mounting bracket 13 connected with a steering knuckle, and a striker plate 112 having an annular low part locking shelf 114 extending in the radial direction is supported on an upper end cap 16 of its cylinder 14. When the assembly 10 jounces to the maximum extent, an annular lock 116 at the lowermost end of a canister 94 abuts and comes into contact with the low part locking shelf 114. These elements constitute a metal-to-metal jounce stop structure, and a jounce bumper 90 can be compressed by a predetermined dimension in the axial direction only when the assembly 10 jounces to the maximum extent. |
