PURPOSE: To obtain a Bacinas which shows an antibacterial action against the growth of Trichophyton in the horny layer of a human foot and shows an activity of flocculating fine suspended matter by culturing Bacillus natto or Bacillus subtilis in a medium and separating and collecting the Bacinas from the culture. CONSTITUTION: Bacillus natto or Bacillus subtilis is cultured in a medium, and the produced Bacinas is separated and collected from the culture. The obtained Bacinas has values: N 5.05%, C 0.47% and H 5.85% when determined by elemental analysis, and is revealed to contain large amounts of Mg and P, small amounts of Ca, Mn and Fe, a trivial amount of Si and a very trivial amount of Na when examined by emission spectroanalysis. Its infrared spectrum is as shown in Fig. It is colorless in the form of an aqueous solution and white in air. It is insoluble in cold, warm or hot water, readily soluble in an acidic aqueous solution, insoluble in an alkaline aqueous solution and insoluble in an alcohol or a mixed n-hexane/cyclohexane solvent. When heated with an alcohol lamp, it turns brown, and when heated with a flame of a city gas, it turns black. This Bacinas shows an antibacterial action and a flocculating activity. |
