A lighting unit comprises a base 1 for mounting to a ceiling and a housing 3 which accommodates one or more ballast units 13 and a plurality of lamp holders 4 which are adapted to accept compact fluorescent lamps such that each lamp projects radially from the housing. The upward angle of the lamps may be adjusted so that they are not visible when an uplighter shade is attached at mounting 8, and each projects through a hole 9 in cover 6 which is reflective on the outer surface and of generally conical shape. The unit may fit over an existing ceiling rose to which it may be wired. |
