PURPOSE: To inspect a backup battery for function without interrupting the power supply to a load when the measured result of the terminal voltage of the battery is lower than a prescribed value during the closing period of a discharging contact by discriminating the battery as faulty. CONSTITUTION: When inspecting a battery 10 for function, a serial circuit of a discharging contact 21 and discharging resistor 22 is connected in parallel with the battery 10 and, when an uninterruptible power supply is turned off, the terminal voltage of the battery 10 is measured while the contact 21 is closed. When the terminal voltage is lower than a prescribed value, the battery 10 is discriminated as abnormal and an alarm is issued after opening the contact 21. When the power unit is operated, the electric power supplied to a load 7 is measure. When the electric power is lower than a specific value, the output voltage of a battery charger 3 is dropped after closing the contact 21 and the terminal voltage of the battery 10 is measured. When the terminal voltage is lower than the prescribed value, the battery 10 is discriminated as abnormal and an alarm is issued after opening the contact 21. Therefore, the condition of the battery 10 can be discriminated exactly while the load 7 is operated without interrupting the power supply to the load 7. |
