PURPOSE: To provide a telephone set simplifying operation of a portable telephone set when the transfer destination of a recorded message is the portable telephone set. CONSTITUTION: This telephone set is provided with a microcomputer 31 having functions such that when the transfer of a recording message is set, a preset transfer destination telephone number is dialed, and when a reply from the transfer destination telephone set is confirmed by the dialing, whether or not the transfer destination telephone set is a portable telephone set based on data stored in an E<2> PROM 32 is decided. When it is judged based on the data that the transfer destination telephone set is not a portable telephone set, the input of an identification number is requested to the telephone set. When the portable telephone set is judged, a recording message transfer is informed to send a recording message.
