The vehicle is powered by a nuclear reactor (1) with air from a compressor (4) circulating round its core (2) and leaving at high temperature to drive a gas turbine (6) with its rotation transmitted to a screw or driven wheels (13). The air from the compressor used to drive the turbine can be passed through a heat exchanger (15) which is heated by circulating a primary heat-carrying gas round a closed circuit linked to the reactor core.
