Noise absorbing building block comprises a base (1) and a face plate (2) which together form an internal chamber (3) contg. a watertight noise absorbing element, acoustically connected to the face plate (2) the outer face of which is at least partially porous. The face plate (2) thickness is reduced in certain areas to less than 9 mm and noise transmission channels (6) are incorporated at these areas. The projected surface area of the channels (6) in the noise spreading direction is 20-40 % of the projected surface area of the reduced wall thickness areas. Also claimed is a building block with similar characteristics in which the noise absorber element is located inside the face plate (2).
