FIELD: shipbuilding; special-purpose ice vessels. SUBSTANCE: ship's hull is wedge-shaped in cross section. force extremity is made in form of conical surface inclined in CL at angle of 20 to 45 deg relative to waterline. In upper portion, this surface is smoothly engageable with spheroidal surface which forms ridge at distance of 0.10 to 0.15 of hull length which is engageable in its turn with saddle-shaped surface whose minimum is located at distance of 0.16 to 0.20 hull length. Width of waterline in area of ridge exceeds that in area of minimum of ridge by 5 to 6m. During motion, broken ice slips off force extremity to area of saddle-shaped surface wherefrom it runs under ice, thus providing for free motion of ship keeping her propellers intact.
