Pincers, esp. for severing glass smalts, have two pincer elements, each with a handle region, a severing jaw region and a mounting region with an opening, a pivot pin being positioned in the mounting region for connecting the elements together. The novelty is that the jaw regions (6,7) slope away from the longitudinal plane (E-E) of the handle regions (4,5) and that the common mounting region (8,9) of the two elements (2,3) has a greater width (B) than that (b) of each handle region (4,5).
