PURPOSE: To provide a button type alkaline battery in which drop in electrolyte leakage resistance caused by no use of mercury is eliminated and electrolyte leakage resistance is increased even in no use of mercury. CONSTITUTION: In a button type alkaline battery using zinc with no mercury as a negative active material, a rust preventing film 13 mainly comprising azole family compound is formed on at least the surface 13, brought into contact with a ring-shaped gasket 6, of tin or a tin alloy of a negative terminal plate 5. As the azole family compound, pyrazole group, thiazole group, triazole group, and carbonic acid derivatives of these compounds are preferable. The surface 12, brought into contact with the ring-shaped gasket 6, of tin or tin alloy of the negative terminal plate 5 is preferable to be polished previously by chemical polishing. |
