摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high efficiency, highly controllable apparatus by placing a primary reflector of approximately the same size as a light source near the light source to reflect light back to the light source, and redirecting the light toward a target by means of a secondary reflector of large size. SOLUTION: A primary reflector 94 is placed near the outer surface of an arc tube 82 and is coated to reflect about 85% of visible light while allowing infrared radiation to pass through. The visible light from a light source 80 is thus reflected back through the arc stream of the tube 82 by the reflector 94 and directed at a secondary reflector. The segments 100 of the secondary reflector are made of glass plates or the like with mirrored back surfaces and surround 180 deg. of the circumference of the light source 80. The segments 100 are individually adjustable and can set sharp cutoff lines.
