PURPOSE: To obtain a liquid crystal display device having a wide angle of visual field and good picture quality even when for precision device with a small pitch of arrangement of pixels by specifying the light-emitting directivity of the back light source and the arrangement of pitches of the display unit in the arranging direction of the min. unit lens arrangement as the display unit of the liquid crystal cell. CONSTITUTION: In this device, the light-emitting directivity χ of the back light source comprising a light source 19 and a light transmission plate 18, the distance d between the liquid crystal layer 13 and the min. unit lens which constitutes the microlens array sheet 10, and arrangement pitch p of the display unit in the arranging direction of the min. unit lenses of the display unit in the liquid crystal cell satisfy the relation of p; tan *. p (mm) is the arrangement pitch of the display unit in the arranging direction of the min. unit of the display unit in the liquid crystal cell, and when plural pixels make one dot, the one dot is regarded as the display unit. d (mm) is the distance from the liquid crystal layer 13 to the min. unit lens. χ is the angle determined between one direction at one point on the back light source which gives the max. luminanc and the direction to obtain the half of the max. luminance when the measuring line is tilted along the arrangement direction of the min. unit lens. |
