PURPOSE: To provide the three-dimensional image pickup device which can easily obtain a three-dimensional image in such a state that it is almost similar to one visible to the naked eye when an image is picked up by the three- dimensional image pickup device and is made smaller in size. CONSTITUTION: The three-dimensional image pickup device which obtains the three-dimensional image by utilizing the parallax between both the eyes is equipped with image pickup element 2L and 2R for obtaining right and left independent images and an image pickup element position changing means which changes respective image areas for the right and left eyes; and the positions of the image pickup elements 2L and 2R are changed by controlling segmentation areas of the image pickup elements 2L and 2R and the positions of the image pickup elements 2L and 2R are also changed according to variation in convergence vision.
