The folding device has a folding flap cylinder with at least two folding flaps with a peripheral space equal to the distance between two cross folds. It has a gripper fold blade cylinder working in conjunction with the fold flap cylinder together with a tongue for sheet guiding in the outlet gap of the two cylinders with a guide surface virtually concentric to the fold flap cylinder. The tongue (12) has a tongue beam (13) with a guide surface (16) virtually concentric to the gripper fold blade cylinder (5). The tongue for the prodn. of twice cross-folded products is movable out of the outlet gap (11). On the outlet gap a guide device with a circular arc-shaped contour (17) is directed.
