The invention concerns a method of obtaining a gas mixture for periodic reduced-oxygen training under normal pressure. Atmospheric air is depleted until the oxygen content is 8-18 % by volume by compression in a compressor at up to 2-10 atmospheres, dried, separated at a membrane made from modified hollow fibres of poly-4-methylpentene-1; the gas mixture is humidified and delivered to the patient through a mask. Modification of the fibres is done with a solution of glycerine in an alkaline medium and with superheated steam. The proposed device comprises a compressor (1), an air dryer (2), a gas-separating membrane element (3), a pipe with a flow meter (5), a gas mixture humidifier (6), a respiration mask with valve (7) for the patient, an automated system (8) for adjusting operating parameters, and means for monitoring the patient's condition, with an oxygen meter (9) and a spirometer (10).
