Sealing ring between an air inlet and a fan shroud of a fan engine

The seal unit consists of an elastic sleeve (32) with one end fixed to the air intake (24) and the other end held against the an adjacent portion of the fan housing (26). The diameter of the second end of the sleeve when at rest is smaller than the diameter of the adjacent fan housing surface, and an anti-crease element prevents any relative circumferential displacement between the two ends of the sleeve. The anti-crease element is in the form of a comb-shaped insert with flexible vanes, made from spring steel and embedded in the sleeve. The second end of the sleeve is pressed against the surface fo the fan housing by an inflatable chamber (46) situated round the inside of the sleeve end and attached to it. The chamber is connected via a passage (48) to a blower channel situated after the fan.
