PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moldwash composition for casting which has good dispersion stability, makes the penetration depth to a casting mold adequate and does not give rise to cracking in ignition and swelling of coating films. SOLUTION: The moldwash composition containing refractory aggregate and a polymer having pyrrolidone aggregate is prepared by incorporating a polymer or copolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone at 0.01 to 10 pts.wt. into 100 pts.wt. refractory aggregate.
