The foam component, and partic. a moulding comprises a sheet(s) of soft (elastic if necessary) foam with cross-pieces or cell walls remaining at least in some parts. The cell walls and/or cross-pieces or the structure of the foam or moulding is thermally moulded to a greater density throughout its thickness or whole volume; it is thereby more compressed than one which is foamed freely or not thermally moulded. The prod. pref. contains polyurethane or e.g. polypropylene powder foam and foam scrap; the main foam used however preferably contains flame retardant melamine resin and/or Al2CH3 and/or amonpolyphosphate or such retardant containing chlorine, bromine or phosphate; the product can also be filled with e.g. fibres or other reinforcements. ADVANTAGE - The product is versatile as that its structure can be altered to provide the properties desired. It can incorporate scrap materials or recycling substances.
