The cylinder head comprises an overhead camshaft and an injection device (8) for fuel which is assigned to a fuel pump (7) actuated by the camshaft via a transmission element. There are at least two engine valves being assigned to a common cylinder, and a second camshaft being arranged in the cylinder head, running parallel to the first camshaft. The camshafts each have at least one cam assigned to the transmission element. The transmission element (10) is designed as a crossbar which runs transversely to the longitudinal direction of the reciprocating-piston internal combustion engine. It also has actuating surfaces interacting with the two cams (9) with a portion (12) situated between the camshaft axes (4,5) being arranged to actuate the fuel pump.
