This system consists of a programmable pacemaker (2), of a programmable evaluating circuit (4), of an adjustable synchronising part (5) for synchronising the stimulation pulses at time tst, a programming unit (3), and of a programmable signal processing circuit (1) which is connected via the evaluating circuit (4) constructed, in particular, as a decoder, and the synchronising part (5) constructed, in particular, as a divider, to the outputs of the pacemaker (2). In this arrangement, stimulation pulses are generated for at least two electrodes (E1 to En), which can be implanted in the skeletal muscle LDM, with a stimulation intensity which is corrected in accordance with a magnitude representative of the current body loading or the cardiovascular demand. The parameters of stimulatory effect, pulse width Tp and pulse amplitude U, with a predetermined pulse interval Ti and a burst duration TB set by means of the stimulation mode m, are automatically set in accordance with demand due to the magnitude directly or indirectly derived from the state of the autonomous nervous system, particularly the cardiac rate HR.

|
