<p>A magnetic seal (132,232) for sealing a member (90,290) rotated about its axis in a developer apparatus (60) is provided. The seal includes a magnetic field producing member (117,213) and magnetizable members (142,242). The magnetizable members are positioned adjacent and on opposite faces (121,221) of the magnetic member. The magnetizable members have at least a portion (160,260) thereof progressively increasing in thickness in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of the member as distance from the axis increases.
