PURPOSE: To manufacture a long size compound superconducting wire and a coil which are excellent in an electric and mechanical characteristic by joining. CONSTITUTION: A plurality wire rods by compounding metal and stabilizing metal being a raw material of a compound superconductor are prepared in according to a jelly roller method or a bronze method or the like. Next, the wire rods 11a and 11b are superposed by a length L on each other in its lengthwise direction. The length L is set not less than 30 times a wire diameter (d) of a strand. Next, superposed parts are intertwisted together. An intertwisting pitch P is set not more than 15 times the wire diameter (d). Heat treatment is performed on the wires joined together by such an intertwist, and a compound superconductor is produced. |
