PURPOSE: To prevent drop of the lifetime of a signal receiving unit and its malfunction and heighten the reliability of the remote control operation. CONSTITUTION: A luminaire comprises a body 21 installed on a high ceiling, lamp sockets 26a, 26b, 28a, 28b installed on the body 21 to support fluorescent lamps 38, 39 of straight tube type, a signal receiving unit 33 installed on the body 21 to receive signals transmitted by a remote control, and a remote controller 41 which is installed on the luminaire body 21 to control the lamps 38, 39 in conformity to the contents of the signal received by the unit 33. The receiving unit 33 is positioned on the opposite side to the bulbs B of the lamps 38, 39 about the boundary which is a virtual plane A passing the base- confronting surfaces 29 of the lamp sockets 26a, 26b, 28a, 28b positioned opposingly to the bases C of the lamps 38, 39, and the unit 33 is installed near the lamp sockets 26a, 26b, 28a, 28b. |
