The device comprises: a support (A) which is disposed so as to be longitudinally displaceable and is composed of support segments (AS) which can be inserted in one another telescopically at the joints; a delivery point (Z) for further containers which is disposed at one end of the row; a stop (AN1) for the further containers which is disposed in the longitudinal direction after the delivery point; and a displacement device (V) engaging the last support segment (AS) at the end of the row opposite the delivery point. The displacement device (V) displaces the support (A) in one direction below the further containers abutting the stop (AN1) at the delivery point and, when the support (A) is withdrawn, pulls apart in the other direction the mutually inserted support segments (AS) in order to form gaps (L) between the prepared containers (B). The device is suitable in particular for preparing empty containers for sorting post. When the filled sorting containers are removed from the post-sorting device, they can rapidly be replaced by one of the prepared empty containers (B), the removal of the empty container (B) from the row being considerably facilitated by the gaps (L). |
