PURPOSE: To obtain an alkali-soluble non-blocking film comprising a specific polymer and a polyvalent metal, capable of being printed, high in mechanical strength, having a stable strength and a stable dimensional characteristic, and useful as a substrate for labels, etc. CONSTITUTION: This film comprises (A) a polymer obtained by copolymerizing (i) anα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer with (ii) at least one vinylic monomer in a non-aqueous medium, and (B) a polyvalent metal (preferably either one of Mg, Ca and Zn). Therein, the component (i) is preferably methacrylic acid or acrylic acid, and at least 30 pts.wt. of the component (ii) is preferably an alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate. The component A has an acid value of 70-300mg KOH/g, a number-average mol.wt. of 10000-500000, and a glass transition temperature of -30 to 120 deg.C, and is preferably insoluble in neutral or acidic water and soluble in an alkaline water.
