<p>PURPOSE: To make it possible to remove the surface scale of a slag at the time of charging and extracting the slab without occurance of flaws thereon and to remove the scale on a hearth for supporting the slab as well by providing a furnace body with brushes for scrapping off the stuck slab near the slab charging port of a furnace body. CONSTITUTION: The rotary brushes 14 are connected to trucks 12 via rods 15 and these trucks 12 are installed movably along traveling rails 11 hung down in the lower part of a furnace body base 4 so that the rotary brushes 14 are disposed freely advanceably and retreatably near the slab charging port of the lower part of the furnace body. The charging and ejecting of the slab 1 at the time of a heat treatment are executed by a hearth beam 6 placed with the hearth 5 which moves upward and downward together with a slag receiving hopper 8 relative to the furnace body 2 and places and delivers the slab 1 onto the hearth 5 in the lower position. The rotary brushes 14 are pressed and touched to the slab 1 or the hearth 5 at the time of the vertical movement, by which the scale sticking to the slab 1 or the hearth 5 is scraped off.</p> |
