PURPOSE: To make the output high, and obtain a barrier membrane high in mechanical strength by letting a cation exchange membrane be formed out of at least more than three layers of polymer films, and letting the moisture content of the layers at its end sides be in a specified range, and be greater than that of the intermediate layer. CONSTITUTION: CF2 =CF2 and CF2 =CFOCF2 CF (CF3 )O(CF2 )2 SO2 F are copolymerized so as to be formed into copolymers of dried resin whose ion exchange capacities are 0.93 and 1.33 mili equivalent weight/g. The respective polymers are extruded into membranes so as to be formed into a film A of 80m and a film B of 20m respectively. The respective films are piled up in the order of B/A/B, and laminated by a roller, and the product thus produced is hydrolyzed in a solution containing dimethyle sulfoxide and potassium hydroxide thereafter. The product is then impregnated and washed in a great amount of 2N-HCe, and a sulfonic acid type barrier membrane is thereby obtained. It is indicated that the moisture content by weight of the film A is 40, and that of the film B is 140 in a range of 110 to 200, and the bursting strength of the barrier membrane is 3.0kg/cm<2> in the air at the temperature of 25 deg.C and at the relative humidity of 50%. |
