A water-cooled transport roller for transporting charges in heat-treatment ovens consists of three sections: a stationary water-cooled bearing member made of steel; a carrier section made of heat resistant steel; and a transport roller made of a non-metallic material. The cooled bearing member pref. extends into the thermal insulation.
