The device facilitating vehicle access adapts the motor vehicle seat (1) to move forward and backward along rails (2). The rails are mounted on the turret (3) that can rotate through three hundred and sixty degrees, and can raise and lower the seat between a position where it is clear of the door sill and the driving position. A foot rest (5) at the front edge of the seat supports the feet of the handicapped person during entry to the vehicle. Controls to allow operation of the seat can be fitted to the seat itself or attached to the dashboard of the vehicle. The controls can be connected to the seat actuators by wire or by remote coupling. A mechanism may be incorporated to alter the dimensions of the seat between the entry position and the driving position. |
