PURPOSE: To obtain a modified regenerated cellulose fiber having excellent dyeability and fastness for cationic dye while retaining its touch feeling and water absorbency, by incorporating regenerated cellulose fiber with a specific insoluble polymerized product. CONSTITUTION: Firstly, an insoluble polymerized product is prepared by cross- linking a dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone-sulfonate condensate of the formula (M is Na or K; (n) is 2-20) with a cross-linking agent having in the molecule at least two epoxy groups. Second, a dispersion containing the insoluble polymerized product is mixed with a cellulose viscose dope just before spinning, and the spinning of the viscose is conducted to obtain the objective modified regenerated cellulose fiber incorporated with the cross-linked polymer. The modified fiber has serviceable mechanical strength. The cross-linking agent is e.g. resorcin glycidyl ether, 1,6-hexanediol diglycidyl ether, ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether. The modified fiber is high in fastness even if dyed deep, and can be uniformly dyed in the same color even if used by blending with cationic dye-dyeable fiber. |
