PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition, containing funoran as an active ingredient and capable of effectively inhibiting the sticking of periodontal pathogenic bacteria to the tooth surface and periodontal tissues near the peripheral part of the gingiva and effectively eliminating the once sticking pathogenic bacteria. CONSTITUTION: This composition in the form of a food material such as a chewing gum, a tablet confectionery, a beverage, an ice cream or a chocolate, a dentifrice, a mouthwash, a refreshing agent for the oral cavity, etc., contains funoran which is polysaccharides extracted from a glue plant that is a natural product as an active ingredient.
