The contact element provides transmission of electric current and/or voltage to another component where relative movement between the contact element nand the other component is enabled. The contact element (2) contains carbon fibres which are embedded in a binding material. The binding material is preferably a conductive plastic or resin esp. epoxy resin.The carbon fibres are arranged at least partially in the direction (6) of the longitudinal extent of the contact element (2). The contact element (2) preferably contains a bundle of fibres with the diameter of individual fibres being smaller than the width (18) of the contact element.
