PURPOSE: To eliminate distortion and to compress the scale of hardware by generating the mean value data of continuous first and second picture element data and selecting either original image data or the mean value data. CONSTITUTION: Inputted picture element data DP before sampling is latched with latches 11, 2 replying to the supply of a clock CK, respectively. An averaging instrument 1 takes the average of the output DL of the latch 11 and the present input picture element data DP after one clock of the clock CK, and generates interpolation data CP, and supplies it to a multiplexer 3. The multiplexer 3 supplies a signal DM which selects either the interpolation data or original picture element data DQ supplied from the latch 2 replying to the supply of a control signal CM to a latch 4. The latch 4 latches the signal DM replying to the supply of the clock CK. In such a way, output data DO in which the picture element data at a prescribed position is nullified can be obtained. and picture elements are thinned. |
