METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR TRANSMISSION OF VIDEO BIT STREAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transmission quality by transmitting only L in high/low priority segments H/L through the use of agreed high priority information, obtaining H from a storage device on a reception side or generating it by means of a prescribed system and interleaving it with L on a real time basis. SOLUTION: A server 200 generates the high priority segments H by using high priority information A which is previously agreed and stores it in a disk 202. It stands by and receives video segments request. The server 200 and a client (CL) 220 set the non-guarantee distribution/reception protocols of data on the low priority segments L in the request segments. Then, the server 200 reads data on the segments L from the disk 202 or generates it on a real time basis based on information A and transmits it to CL 220 on a real time basis. A video CL processor 221 obtains data on the section H from the memory. A video decoder 224 interleaves data of the segments H and L and displays them on a monitor 225. Thus, the quality of video transmission by a packet network 210 can be improved.
