PURPOSE: To determine the selection criterion just as the user intends by terminating a selection judgment when at least one object is selected within the same hierarchy, successively performing the selection judgments for objects belonging to a lower rank hierarchy when no object is selected, and determining the selection criterion in the same hierarchy when the selection object hierarchy is changed. CONSTITUTION: A selection criterion determination means 3 takes out the circumscribed rectangle information of all the objects in the same hierarchy from an object information control means 2, calculates average circumscribed rectangle area, compares the area and the area of the selection range area obtained from a selection range instruction means 1, the selection criterion for the object in the same hierarchy is made not strict when the latter area is larger, while otherwise the selection criterion is made strict. A selection judgment means 4 calculates the overlapping degree of a circumscribed rectangle and the selection range area, compares the degree with the selection criterion determined by the selection criterion determination means 3, selects the object and stores the object in a buffer 5 if the overlapping degree is the selection criterion or more. The buffer 5 stores the object when the selection judgment means 4 selects the object. |
