PURPOSE: To simply and safely produce an unsaturated ether compound by a direct one step reaction from an inexpensive and easily available glycol ether compound in the presence of a specific catalyst without using an auxiliary raw material and a solvent. CONSTITUTION: (B) A glycol ether compound is subjected to an intramolecular dehydration reaction in a gaseous phase in the presence of a catalyst especially preferably comprising an oxide of formula: Ma Sib Xc Od (M is alkali metal element; X is at least one of Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, B, Al, Ga, In, Tl, Ge, Sn, Pb, P and Sb; when a is 1, b is 1-500, c is 0-1, d is a number determining by the values of a-c and by the binding states of various constituting elements) to obtain (C) the converted unsaturated ether compound.
