TABLET CONTAINING USEFUL INTESTINAL BACTERIA

PURPOSE: To obtain a tablet containing useful intestinal bacteria, having high content of active useful intestinal bacteria and excellent stability by using useful intestinal bacteria, magnesium metasilicate aluminate and calcium citrate or anhydrous calcium biphosphate as essential components. CONSTITUTION: This tablet is produced by using 0.1-40wt.% of useful intestinal bacteria belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium (bifidus bacteria) in combination with (a) magnesium metasilicate aluminate and (b) calcium citrate or anhydrous calcium biphosphate as active components. The sum of the components (a) and (b) is 60-95wt.% and the ratio of (a):(b) is 9:1 to 1:9. The mixture is properly compounded with conventional additives and formed in the form of a tablet usually having a diameter of 4-12mm. The tablet may be coated with a coating film made of an enteric polymer. The deactivation of the useful intestinal bacteria in tableting is minimized and the bacteria in the preparation can be maintained in stable state even in the case of long-term preservation.
