A process for the oxidn. or thermo-hydrolysis of a chemical element effected by microwave heating of a mixt. comprising the element and a nitrate ion source. Thermo-hydrolysis is effected on a chemical soln. of the element in tetravalent form and in the presence of a nitrate source.
