PURPOSE: To prevent crosstalk by installing a light shielding member for preventing interaction of laser beams emitted from adjacent semiconductor laser parts, on the main surface of a submount between photodetectors. CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor laser array chip 6 is fixed on the main surface of a submount 5 which has two photodetector parts 2a, 2b on the main surface layer part. The submount 5 has a region where the semiconductor laser array chip 6 is mounted and fixed, and a region where the photodetector parts 2a, 2b for receiving backward laser beams (monitor beams 7a, 7b) of the array chip 6 are formed. A protruding stripe 3 is formed which stretches on the total length from the region where the array chip 6 is mounted and fixed to the photodetector part 2a, 2b. The protruding stripe 3 is formed on the central part of the submount 5, and engaged with a trench 22 of the array chip 6. Thereby the crosstalk between beams in backward laser beams 19a, 19b emitted from laser parts 4a, 4b can be prevented.
