Continuous working appts. for workpieces, esp. in electron beam welding

The appts. for continuous working of workpieces consists of two chambers (4a,4b) located next to each other. The chambers have a common cover (5) with two longitudinal slots (6) over each chamber. The electron beam is fitted to a base plate (2) which is located above the cover (5) and can move horizontally along the cover such that its hole (3) can move along the length of one of the slits, thereby enabling the electron beam to penetrate one of the chambers while the other chamber's slot is covered by that piece of cover which has no opening. The cover (5) has longitudinal grooves (8a,8b) around the slots (6) into which O-ring seals are fitted which protrude from the cover surface. The base plate rests on top of the seals and a pump device is fitted to create a vacuum inside the area between seals, plate and cover.
