<p>Coating compositions which have improved oxygen and flavor/odor barrier characteristics are disclosed. The coating compositions are obtained by coating a hydrophobic polymeric substrate, such as a polyolefin film, with an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol and urea and drying the coating at a temperature sufficient to allow the polyvinyl alcohol and urea to crosslink such that urethane linkages are formed at least between the polymeric substrate and the coating composition.</p> |
