The holding device is for containers such as beakers, cups, bottles etc. It is built into walls or instrument panels in vehicles, caravans, aircraft, ships, etc. It has a housing (22) mounted in a console (12) and a loading tray (34) for at least one container (52) which slides out of the housing.The tray has a sliding (18) and a central section (20) which nest inside each other and slide in and out of the housing. The housing and the central section, and the central section and the sliding section, have common guides (24,26), which extend a maximum length of 35 mm.
