Liquid retaining seal for shaft with additional fibre ring dust seal

The purpose of the additional fibre ring seal (25) is to prevent the entry of dirt or grime into the sealing unit. The fibres used to make the ring are either natural, man-made or metallic.The fibres are mounted in a retaining ring (28) of U-shaped cross-section which is mounted adjacent to the liquid retaining seal. The fibres are arranged in the ring so that they extend either radially or axially. Dust seal and liquid seal are mounted in a common retaining ring (2).
