PURPOSE: To exchange a multifunctional unit containing a converting section composed of a converter and inverter and a drive circuit with a normal unit when a unit gets out of order without stopping a power converter by arranging a plurality of multifunctional units in parallel and housing a converting section protective circuit in each unit. CONSTITUTION: A multifunctional unit 21A is constituted by incorporating a converter section composed of a converter 5A, an inverter 7A, and a DC capacitor 6A, a drive circuit 10A, a cooling device 11A, and a converting section protective circuit 20A in the unit 21A. Other multifunctional units 21B and 21C are also constituted in the same way. The units 21A, 21B, and 21C are connected in parallel and, at the same time, a second protective circuit 22 which protects an input-output circuit for external devices and control circuit 12 are commonly provided in the units 21A, 21B, and 21C. Therefore, at the time of inspecting a cooling fan, the DC capacitor 6, etc., or exchanging the devices due to faults, the power supply to a load 9 can be continued without stopping the operation of a power converter. |
