PURPOSE: To match the dimensions of the external shape of a backlight device with its effective illumination area as much as possible. CONSTITUTION: A light source storage part 13 where a light source 6 is received is provided in the end part of an edge light panel 10 to prevent the light source 6 from projecting, and a dot masking part 15 for the density change consisting of silver reflective dots is formed on an incidence face part 14 inside the light source storage part 13 to cut and transmit the light of the light source, and the quantity of transmitted light is controlled so as to match with the luminance of the other illumination, and a dot print part 22 for the density change consisting of white adjustment dots which prevents appearance of a pattern of transmitted light is formed in the corresponding position of a diffusing sheet 20. Thus, the whole of a backlight device A is made into the effective illumination area to prevent partial abnormal light emission due to the light source 6. |
