PURPOSE: To reduce the capacity of a memory required for frame recognition and to shorten processing time required for the frame recognition. CONSTITUTION: At every one scanning of a scanner 25, a CPU 10 extracts line segment information from image data read at the time and stores it in an intermediate buffer 33. When the line segment information for one sheet of paper is stored in the intermediate buffer 33, the CPU 10 recognizes the line segment information and recognizes the size and position, etc., of respective frames present on the paper based on the recognized result. Thus, compared to the case of performing a frame recognition processing including a line segment extraction processing (preprocessing) after reading the certain amount of the image data, the processing speed is accelerated and the capacity of a line buffer 31 required at the time is reduced to the one for one scanning. |
