PURPOSE: To smoothly pass a recording sheet through the nipping part in a fixing device to fix a toner image to a recording sheet by heating or pressing which is used for an electrophotographic image forming device. CONSTITUTION: The pressing member 20 to be pressed to a heater roller 10 consists of a container-like supporting body 21, a silicone sponge 22 housed in the supporting body 21 and a tetrafluoroethylene film 23 having pores which covers the opening. The silicone sponge 22 is impregnated with a dimethylsilicone oil so that the silicone oil is supplied through the film 23 to the heating roller. In this method, the supply amt. of the oil is controlled to 8×10-<4> to 8×10-<2> g/cm<2> for the unit area of the recording sheet. Thereby, despite of the kind of recording sheet utilized, the difference between the coefft. of friction of the recording sheet 32 to the heating roller and the coefft. of friction of the recording sheet 32 to the pressing member 20 is maintained by >=0.5, by which the recording sheet 32 can be smoothly carried with rotation of the heating roller 10.
