The hotel data handling system has a computer (5) connected to an electronic circuit (6) for processing coded audio signals carried over telephone lines. The electronic circuit is connected between the computer and telephone network (4), and translates signals sent over the telephone lines into digital data.A memory (8) provides data in response to the signal processing circuit. A second memory (9) has a region for holding data relative to each client and a region holding data on products and services provided to each client. The memory also has a region for holding data on each of the rooms and on products and services provided to occupants of the room. An optical reader is connected to the system to allow optical scanning of data, and voice signals can also be carried.
